SUMMER’S CHILD by Luanne Rice

SUMMER’S CHILD by Luanne Rice, (c) 2005. I read this book a long time ago but I reread it anyway. It’s a wonderful story about spousal abuse and a woman who runs away from her husband to raise their child in Nova Scotia. It’s abut the friends Lilly makes and the romance she allows to happen. It’s about a happy ending after all.

THE LEMON ORCHARD by Luanne Rice, (2013). I really do love Luanne Rice’s books! and this one is proving to be a good read also! You won’t be sorry you read it! This story is about a young middle aged widow who lost her soon to be ex-husband Peter and her 16 year old daughter in a car accident 5 years earlier in Massachusetts. Now in the present time Julia is in Miami, Florida house-sitting and watching over their family lemon grove for her grandmother Graciela and step grandfather while they go on genealogical based vacation to Ireland.  Meanwhile, here in Florida Julia meets Roberto who also lost a daughter. I am not going to tell you what happened to her. Just read the book

DANCE WITH ME by Luanne Rice

DANCE WITH ME by Luanne Rice, 2004/2005. Luanne Rice is one of my favorite authors, I can always count on her to entertain me. In fact I started this book this morning and I’m already on page 135 after half a days reading! So that means it’s a great book, but Rice’s usually are after all.

This is a nice family drama, about two sisters  Jane and Sylvie who come home to take care of their diabetic mother who also suffers from Alzheimer’s. The older sister Jane was forced by her mother to give her baby girl up for adoption 15 years earlier when she was a 20 year old college sophmore.  This decision tore her up so bad she quite college, moved out of town and seldom returned, since she was adopted by someone who lived in the same Rhode Island town.  Now Jane’s become a famous baker in NYC, and owns a bakery that caters to the stars called Calamity Bakery.  Jane’s daughter was adpoted by a childless couple who don’t get along very well. Chloe just met Jane and hasn’t noticed how much they look alike but I’m sure she will. Jane’s love interest is Chloe’s Uncle Dylan, who has some injury to his leg and he retired to his family’s apple orchard which he’s rennovating as a true business.

NOTE: Does this sould interesting you you? I hope so, it’s a good book so far.

LITTLE NIGHT by Luanne Rice

LITTLE NIGHT by Luanne Rice, (2012). Now this is a REAL GOOD BOOK! I highly recommend it even though I’ve only read 67 pages so far. This story takes place in New York City where Clare and her sister Anne were born and raised, although the Prologue takes place in a prison where Clare Burke the main character is being booked for attacking her controlling brother-in-law. Now why was she assaulting him with a burning log from the fireplace? I’ll let you find out yourself, but it gets very interesting when her niece whom she wasn’t allowed to speak to after her arrest comes to visit her 20 years later.
