TWICE IN A LIFETIME by Dorothy Garlock

TWICE IN A LIFETIME by Dorothy Garlock, (c) 2015. Dorothy Garlock is one of my favorite writers, I’m certain I’ll enjoy this family drama. This is the story of ClaraSinclair a WWII widow who’s raising a son alone in a small town. Her teenage son is very defiant and gets into trouble quite often. Drake McCoy shows up in town to race some of the townsfolk as they bet on who will win. Drake wins but gets his car smashed up by his opponent. Now he’s sticking around town and here he meets Clara and suddenly Drake is thinking of becoming a family man instead of a roaming loner.

WOMAN’S DIARIES OF THE WESTWARD JOURNEY by Lillian Schlissel

WOMAN’S DIARIES OF THE WESTWARD JOURNEY by Lillian Schlissel, (c) 1982.  I’m finding this book very interesting, hearing the facts of the journeys these poor women took. Oftentimes losing their husbands, children, parents, best friends as they traveled westward. I’d love read about one of my own eastern born ancestors who traveled west but who gave up somewhere along the way and returned home after some of their children died.

DANDELION SUMMER by Lisa Wingate

DANDELION SUMMER by Lisa Wingate, (c) 2011. This heartwarming family mystery is about an elderly man named J. Norman Alvord and the friendship he has with a rather neglected teenager named Epiphany Jones who is hired to cook and clean for him a few nights a week after school. At first they don’t get along well, but as time goes on they become friends and help each other out with their various problems. I found the writing style very enjoyable and hope you will also. I look forward to reading more of  Lisa Wingate’s books in the future.

ROREY’S SECRET by Leisha Kelly

ROREY’S SECRET by Leisha Kelly, (c) 2005. This was a nice little historical family drama that takes place in 1938 on some Illinois farms. It’s about Christian families so if you don’t want any bible talk don’t read it., but I enjoyed the book, the plot was good and the writing style was very enjoyable.  The secret all started with Rorey and a boy she was meeting, and later about a fire.
