LET’S TAKE THE LONG WAY HOME by Gail Caldwell

LET’S TAKE THE LONG WAY HOME,  A Memoir of Friendship by Gail Caldwell, (2010). This trade paperback is a story about a friendship that ends when one of the women dies. It was on the New York Times Best Seller List, so it shouldn’t be a horrible book to read. Gail Caldwell, the writer is best friends with Caroline Knapp (author of DRINKING: A LOVE STORY). Both women were alcoholics. Knapp ends up with cancer and I imagine Caldwell helps her though it.  Were they best friends or lovers? I guess I’ll find that out eventually.

NOTE: I didn’t finish this book, it was too sad.
