OBJECT LESSONS by Anna Quindlen, (1991). This is an old coming of age story about a 12 year old Irish/Italian girl growing up in a suburb of New York City. I believe I read it many years ago, but I kept on rereading it anyway. The Irish clan is ruled by a domineering and rich man named John Scanlan, who rules the roost, in fact the whole town bows down to his commands it seems. Little Maggie doesn’t look like her blond haired, blue eyed cousins with her dark hair and eyes she inherited from her mother. If you want a nice enjoyable read you can give it a try.
