DARK INHERITANCE by Carola Salisbury

DARK INHERITANCE by Carola Salisbury, 1975. The old book doesn’t have a dust jacket, I had no idea what it was about until I read the first page, It’s the year 1845 and Twenty-one year old Susannah is the daughter of a one armed former Lobster man who has resorted to furnishing his tavern with smuggled contraband. It seems the Dewaine’s who are the local gentry have lorded it over the townsfolk of Pennan Haven on the Cornish Coast for seven hundred years and Susannah is throughly sick of them as she just witnesses the death of a buck down at the water’s edge during the Dewaine’s latest hunt, and now they are lording it over her at the tavern where they’ve come for a few drinks after the hunt. Well Susannah has a fiery spirit and this could be a good book. I’ll have to let you know.
