YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW by Lisa Jackson, (2012). This is a #1 New York Times best seller by the way. I’m not familiar with her work and hardly ever read mystery/suspense novels. This novel is about a woman named Ava who’s son Noah went missing under her watch. It happened two years earlier and it was assumed he drowned after falling off the dock at their Church Island home although his body was never found. (Is there a real Church Island? I have no idea). Meanwhile Ava has spent the last two years in and out of Seattle mental institutions since she’s understandably “shattered by her grief” as the inside book cover blurb states. Now Ava is back living at her Seattle, Washington childhood home, a mansion called Neptune’s Gate. Finally Ava is coming out of her mental agony and she has her suspicions about what happened to her son. She feels her family and doctors are not telling her everything about what happened, so she finds her way to a hypnotist to finally remember the truth about the day. Does this sound like a TV movie? It does to me.. The husband trying to make the wife sound crazy so he can take the hidden child from her.. Oh well, I’ll have to let you know what I think of the book.
NOTE: I really enjoyed this book, and I’ll read another of Lisa Jackson’s books in the future!
